SHERIDAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Client: Tacoma Public Schools
Architect: PCS
Completion: March 2016
The Sheridan Elementary School playshed had developed a leak in the roof system and the rotting structure was sagging. Neeley Construction was contacted to evaluate and perform repairs. We immediately installed structural shoring to make the structure safe, then began careful deconstruction to expose the extent of damage. With the guidance of AHBL Engineering, we replaced three 25 foot long glue-lam beams and reconnected the existing I-joists, replacing the ends of 14 rot damaged I-joists. We then replaced the parapet walls, stucco siding, roofing, flashing, and plywood soffit, and painted the new materials to match existing. All work was accomplished safely while school remained in session.
